Description
The experimental novel Three! develops the experience of a therapeutic session, in which autobiographical motifs intertwine with language play, and into which the one who is narrating intentionally enters in an attempt to reinvent herself. The therapist's comments motivate the journey of this search for identity, leading ever deeper, to the brink of dissociation. A man and a woman in one person, but also a man and a woman beside each other, strive for fusion, thus leading an open debate on authenticity, gender, and narration. "Maybe it was in my grandmother's pantry when I was looking at a jar of ketchup, on which it was written in blue on a white background: mild. Maybe it was just the ability to notice details." The memories revealed in the effort to name one adolescence also reflect the simple experience of a housing estate, poverty, but also childhood in the second half of the nineties in a small town, or the subsequent transition to Prague to study philosophy, which is anything but a comforting solace. "Whoever loses contact with matter will ultimately lose everything." Cover by Jakub Štourač.
