Tilly and Poe are back – in a police investigation that is getting Washington Poe into serious trouble. Six years ago, he played a significant role as a police officer in Cumbria in the case of the murder of the daughter of famous chef Jared Keaton. Although her body was never found, Poe was convinced that Keaton killed his eighteen-year-old daughter Elizabeth in the restaurant they ran together. The jury agreed, and Keaton was sentenced to life in prison. Now, however, a woman claiming to be Elizabeth Keaton has come forward to a local police officer. How could Poe have been so wrong? Or was he wrong? He still believes he was right about Jared Keaton, the charming psychopath. But with so much evidence piling up against the original investigation, his job is harder than he could have imagined. However, with Tilly on his side, the odds should tilt in his favor.
