Description
This Czech-language coming-of-age novel follows fourteen-year-old Luize, who feels like a mistake. Her mother considers her a burden, while her father, who left the family, contacts her once a year by email on her birthday. Luize lives in the town of Hrob, and her mother is determined that they must leave. When Luize reaches a crucial crossroads in her life, she is enrolled in the Dead Personalities Recycling programme, where even the deceased can still be useful. Stalin and Němcová suddenly begin accompanying her, invisible to everyone else but assigned a clear task: to help her find her own path between good and evil. This humorous novel explores growing up, parents and their influence, or lack of it, and the idea that even death is not always final.
