This dark detective novel follows Commissioner Maria Herman as she and her new partner, the seasoned but life-scarred Olgierd Borewicz, investigate a case that has remained in the files for thirty years: the abduction of two-month-old Filip Witberg. In the early 1990s, the Witberg family celebrated the birth of their long-awaited son, but their joy soon turned to despair when the child vanished without a trace and the police reached a dead end. Three decades later, Maria, troubled by demons of her own, returns to the case while Borewicz struggles with the shadows of his past. Their investigation leads them to Grudziądz, where they uncover secrets meant to remain buried forever. The deeper they delve, the clearer it becomes that someone is prepared to do anything to prevent the truth from coming to light. The book is in Czech.
