Description
The first test rides of buses in Prague began as early as 1907. The operation of the first city line was launched by the Electric Enterprises – the predecessor of today's Public Transport Company of the Capital City of Prague – in the following year. Regular bus transport has been functioning in the capital for a hundred years, since 1925. In the 1920s, the network of regional lines also developed, surprisingly first under Czechoslovak Post. Along with the transport system, the infrastructure evolved: bus stations, bus turnarounds, and garages were created and then disappeared, and stops increased. The designations of lines, the graphics of timetables, and tickets changed. The new volume of the Lost Prague edition captures bus transport in the capital from the early 20th century to the 1990s. Through period photographs, it shows the transformations that time has swept away, but whose remnants can still be found in many places today.
