Description
They are young, full of anxiety, pills, hope and love. They do not understand their parents, hate the police and are failed by social services. Ivor and his best friends Marco, Jonas and Arjan are sixteen, live in the heart of Oslo and sink ever deeper into a world of drugs, violence and crime. They try to satisfy their longing for a lost sense of security by dealing in soft drugs. Their lack of integration into society is replaced by brotherly solidarity and an honest effort not to disappoint the last family members who have not yet turned their backs on them. This Czech-language novel by a nineteen-year-old author is intense and raw, written in a vivid, compellingly rhythmic style. In Norway, it became a sensation, won several literary awards and has been translated into fifteen languages.
