Description
Franta Čížek lives in a house by the tracks, along with his mom, dad, and a dog named Šlupajz, who is actually to blame for everything. If Šlupajz hadn't dashed off after a trail during a long walk in a place called Hell, where Franta always prefers to quicken his pace, he wouldn't have met Luboš. Luboš is not a devil, even though he looks a bit like one. Luboš is a blacksmith, and he immediately takes Franta on as his apprentice. Thus, Franta discovers the secrets of the blacksmith's craft, the forge where it is as hot as in real hell, and where true friendship is forged. Franta's story literally draws readers to the blacksmith's fire and to the forgotten blacksmithing trade. On large colorful illustrations, various tools and instruments emerge from the smoke before our eyes, we learn blacksmithing jargon, and we find out whether Franta has become a true blacksmith.
