Description
"Vladimir Nabokov, who built the Taj Mahal his whole life, decided at the age of seventy-three – for his own amusement and for our pleasure – to build a small model of it." With these words, a review in The New York Times Book Review welcomed the release of Nabokov's elegant novella Transparent Things in 1972. In the story of editor Hugh Person, who visits a Swiss town over twenty years, creative genius meets themes of memory, crime, love, and madness. One of the most significant writers of the twentieth century thus brings to life the emblematic motifs and techniques we know from his previous work. The afterword was written by Jiří Pelán.
