Jáhen King Kong – McBride James (2023)

Brooklyn, late 1960s. One day, an old eccentric deacon strides up to a local dealer, whom he had recently taught to play baseball, and shoots him. This sets off a cascade of events that will change the lives of not just the two of them, but the entire diverse community living in the "bad neighborhood." Social issues, racism, and unrest serve more as a backdrop to a lively story that gradually takes on the parameters of an Indiana Jones-style quest. American classic James McBride, making his debut in Czech, showcases both his masterful storytelling abilities and his enduring faith in humanity. "Deacon King Kong" is infused with the atmosphere of New York and jazz, delighting fans of gangster stories and quirky heroes, and serves as an uplifting message that love and faith exist even in the most despicable of characters.
