Slávek Hamaďák debuted in 2007 with the collection Live Ashes. Now he comes with a new work titled HRAJKU. He uses language as both a weapon and a bandage. His humor is crooked yet truthful. HRAJKU is a civil grotesque, an ironic prayer, and a scream from an infected soul. It sprouted between 2020 and 2023, during a time when the world was receiving well-aimed blows from the pandemic, war, and digital timelessness. Some phrases, names, and scenes may sound absurd today. However, the raw authentic record of what we lived through – and survived – during those years does not weaken it. On the contrary – it makes HRAJKU a timeless diary, scratched out without compromise.
