Soudcův sen o křídlech – Šulec Jan (2019)

The book introduces the reader to the story of Judge Vilém Šustr. The plot of the novel unfolds from the early 1990s. Against the backdrop of social conditions, the author, with an intimate knowledge of the judicial environment, depicts the atmosphere, the characters of judges and court clerks, and the language they use to communicate. Thus, a testimony of a member of a generation searching for new solid points is created. Doctor Šustr, also known as Vilda, presents himself personally – although he must focus on serious criminal activity, he does not stop dreaming. He longs to build a house, soar into the clouds, and explore the world... He too wants to fly, to taste freedom, but he is bound by difficulties that prevent him from doing so... Vilda gradually gathers courage and makes a crucial decision to become a true judge of the appellate court. A complicated case, one that may not occur throughout his entire career, will help him grow. The reader will also unknowingly accept a bet between the psychotherapist and Vilda, whether he can overcome his fear of flying and whether he will free himself from his bonds. There is no doubt that they are rooting for him.
