Description

When Natalie Harper unexpectedly becomes the owner of a debt-laden San Francisco bookstore due to a tragic event and starts caring for her grandfather, who is struggling with worsening memory issues, she doesn't have to think long about what takes priority. Her plan to sell the bookstore to fund her grandfather's care, however, doesn't go through. Not only has her grandfather lived his entire life in the house where the store is located, but he is also its sole rightful owner—and he refuses to sell it. Natalie is left with no choice but to abandon her promising career, move into an apartment in a historic building, and reluctantly take over the shop's operations. Soon, however, she discovers that books provide her with a welcome relief from her immense grief, and her life begins to slowly turn around. She hires former Marine Peach Gallagher to make necessary repairs in the house and gets to know his daughter Dorothy, who regularly visits the bookstore and reads with Natalie. Thanks to Dorothy, she eventually meets Trevor Dashwood, a famous and handsome writer. To Natalie's surprise, the unfortunate beginning turns into an unexpected journey of discovery and understanding about family, the future, and the heart. Can she start a new chapter in her life?
