Poprava – Sigurdardóttir Yrsa (2021)

On the gloomy lava fields near Reykjavik stands a gallows. The place where condemned lives once ended is now a tourist attraction. Or rather it was – until a cold morning when a man was found hanged on the gallows after decades. What initially appears to be a suicide turns out to be something much more sinister – the hanged man has a nail driven straight into his chest. The police team, including Huldar, has another murder on their hands. The shadow over the entire case darkens further when an abandoned four-year-old child is found in the murdered man's apartment. The boy has no family ties to the deceased, and his parents are nowhere to be found. However, from the drawings he creates, it is clear that he must have witnessed something that sends chills down the spines of even the most experienced detectives. While Detective Huldar embarks on the hunt for the killer, child psychologist Freyja tries to track down the boy's family. During the investigation, a story of violence, malicious manipulation, and cruel revenge emerges. More lives are likely in mortal danger. Huldar and Freyja once again plunge into a frantic race against time.
