Description
Martin Patřičný (born 1955) is a wood artist, author of several books, and storyteller. He learned the craft privately from his uncle, a woodcarver, and has been fully dedicated to artistic work with wood since 1988. He is co-author of the script and guide for 26 episodes of the major television documentary A Piece of Wood from the Tree (script and direction by Bedřich Ludvík, 2009). He has had over a hundred exhibitions in the Czech Republic and has exhibited abroad in the Netherlands, France, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Italy, and Canada. The Great Book of Wood is a unique publication that addresses wood from all possible aspects, from practical use to its symbolism and significance in art. The book includes profiles of about fifty types of wood, accompanied by numerous unique color photographs.
