Description
The publication, which is part of the Pocket Nature series, brings interesting facts and detailed information about various day and night butterflies from all over Europe. Butterflies belong to a huge order of insects that contains over one hundred sixty-five thousand species worldwide, while day butterflies make up only one hundred sixty-eight species, which is just over six percent of the total range. Moths, as night butterflies are commonly referred to, are therefore significantly more numerous. In the Czech Republic, approximately three and a half thousand butterflies can be found, and this publication includes the most common and prominent species. Original, concise illustrations highlight the main characteristics, and for each profile, it provides basic occurrence and distribution, food sources, and a number of interesting facts.
