Description
Bingo is the debut novel of young Korean writer Yom Sungsuk. In it, the author compares contemporary society to a game of bingo, where people represent only randomly drawn numbers. They cannot freely decide about their own lives. Just like in the game, they never know when they will be chosen, into which square they will be placed, and whether they will be erased in the next round. The protagonist of the story, a young man named Pchan Chisu, characterizes himself as an utterly ordinary person, so ordinary that there is hardly anything more to add. Since starting his first job, he hopes to escape from his world, from the feeling of absolute loneliness, lostness, and indecision. However, he soon realizes that the construction company he has started working for is not just any firm, as he thought, and that he cannot trust anyone or anything.
