Description
Eliete is an ordinary woman in her forties, whose life seems unremarkable at first glance. Her daughters spend most of their time online or abroad, and connecting with her husband is easier on Facebook than meeting at home. The perpetually absent partner shows no interest in reviving their relationship. Instead of succumbing to despair, Eliete signs up for an online dating site, where despite her original plans, she finds something unexpected – could it be the seed of love? However, this new experience brings new questions: does her virtual suitor love her like the heroes from the teenage magazines she admired in her childhood? And what on earth does it mean when her grandmother, suffering from dementia, claims that her family history is connected to a deceased Portuguese dictator? Is ordinary life an everyday drama? Probably yes, but it usually brings a number of comedic moments. Eliete – Ordinary Life is a portrait of a woman drowning in the boredom and indifference of her family, a sort of Madame Bovary who decides to take the reins of her life into her own hands and experience a romantic adventure in the era of modern dating.
