Description
This Czech-language reading primer for the first year of Czech primary school follows the introductory alphabet textbook and develops reading and writing through varied tasks. Pupils learn additional letters and read words of increasing difficulty, which are then combined into sentences and suitably long texts. The book contains core material as well as extension activities, including reading rhymes aloud and finding further information in the text. Its texts and exercises develop vocabulary, speech and pronunciation, communication, reading comprehension, imagination, interpersonal relationships and an appreciation of nature. It also incorporates elements of critical thinking, global reading, in which unfamiliar words are supported by pictures, and project-based learning, with selected pages linked thematically and across subjects. The activities allow all pupils to participate in lessons. A final literary section enables children to use what they have learned throughout the school year and encourages them to begin reading their first books independently.
