Description
Former military policeman Jack Reacher arrives by bus from Nashville to a nearby town and steps off to buy coffee. He wants to continue on his endless journey across the United States. In his pocket, he has a roll of cash, a passport, a credit card, and a toothbrush, with all the time in the world at his disposal. However, his stop won't be as brief as he intended. The town is paralyzed by a cyber attack that Rusty Rutherford, who is in charge of the municipal servers and network, was supposed to prevent – but didn't. Not only has he immediately lost his job, but the residents are also making it clear that they would prefer he didn't exist at all. Reacher notices him just as someone tries to drag Rutherford into a car and abduct him. The kidnappers, however, are not disgruntled locals; other interests, other organizations, and – another state – are at play. As always, Reacher hopes for the best outcome, but he is prepared for the worst.
