Temný proud – Preston Douglas (2021)

FBI Special Agent Aloysius Pendergast and junior agent Coldmoon are tasked with solving the morbid mystery of numerous human feet, shod in plastic shoes and floating in the Atlantic. Dozens of identical shoes are found in the ocean off the coast, each containing a severed human foot, bearing clear signs of violence. One day, they suddenly appear, washed ashore by the tide from an unknown origin. Pendergast, recalled from the airport just before his return flight to New York, reluctantly arrives on Captiva Island, where the mystery quickly captivates him. A preliminary report from pathology suggests that the feet were severed from the bodies in a highly primitive manner. To everyone's astonishment, the tide washes up more limbs, until their number exceeds a hundred. Soon it becomes clear that Pendergast and his partner, Agent Coldmoon, are facing an adversary more dangerous than any they have encountered before.
