Description
Diego Vasquez was gifted with an amazing talent, and his paintings adorn the churches of Seville, but he was also born with a grotesquely small body, which brings him much suffering and mockery. When he is enchanted by the beautiful Mencia, he would rather not admit it even to his only friend (and perhaps not even to himself), hiding his sadness and despair behind a wall of irony and cynicism. However, the lady has her own mind and her own plans – including the desire to learn to paint from a true master. Their meeting marks the beginning of a story of love and hatred, friendship and betrayal, envy, wounded pride, and revenge, set against the backdrop of the waning reconquista, taking us into the taverns and churches of Seville, the dungeons of the Inquisition, and even the emir's palace in Granada and his harem. Will this mismatched pair ever get a chance to be together?
