Dying in virtual reality is no joke; facing the bullets of criminal bosses in real life is something else entirely. In such a desperate situation, their request for me to do them a little favor in VR doesn't seem like a bad alternative. The problem is that the games of spy agencies follow much harsher rules. The inability to refuse is not a good excuse for them—especially when you disrupt their secret operations. Still, I simply had no choice. That's why the price for freedom didn't seem outrageous to me. All I had to do was log in, become a necromancer, shake off my pursuers, go through elimination, and track down one specific person.
