Description
The novel Bodies in the Dark tears apart themes of identity, corporeality, and desire. The narrator, a young writer nicknamed Hank, faces a cruel twist of fate: illness has robbed him of his manhood. After an operation that deprives him of the possibility of sexual intercourse, he finds himself in an empty in-between space. His relationship with his partner Sára transforms, her daughter Tea experiences her first passions, and he himself struggles with the painful dying of his former self. He finds refuge in writing, obsessively exploring what he has lost – sexuality. Bodies in the Dark are a fall into the depths, where pain, beauty, and desire fight for every bit of light.
