The Northern Day is writhing in chaos. The streets are flooded with endless rain and the blood of the crucified. The government and the Church have fallen, and power is being seized by the members of the mysterious Glow. However, something even more sinister is approaching: the Purple Darkness, a twenty-eight-day-long night during which phantoms emerge from the thickets and ancient labyrinths reveal the skeletons of unimaginable creatures.
To reverse the course of events, former prospector Julius and the leader of the criminal Syndicate, Vicram, must embark on an expedition to the Northern Territories, where unpredictable bioconstructs are hidden. The superhumanly gifted Cora, along with her fugitive companion Hana, sets out to save Rovini, the Lake, and the Rock City from a deadly disease.
On their journey across the turbulent ocean and ice floes, they will be accompanied by a millennia-old cephalopod and machines unlike anything anyone has ever seen. But will it be enough? In the Purple Darkness, it is easy to get lost... and much harder to escape.
