THE RUINS OF GIRL'S STONE CASTLE HIDE A LONG-BURIED SECRET... A careless punch and a few false accusations were enough to force historian Záviš Brieftrager to exchange his teaching position at Charles University for a menial job at a company restoring historical sites. Yet even at the excavations at Girl's Stone, the ruins of the Rosenberg residence near České Budějovice, he does not find peace. The discovery of an old skull might not mean much – if not for the subsequent remains, clearly of a younger date. Could they belong to farmer Antonín Dvořák, who was taken away in a black limousine by the StB from nearby Holubov in the 1950s? But how did they end up at the castle? And what connects their owner to the fate of a medieval nobleman? Záviš struggles to fix his own life, but perhaps he could at least solve the mystery of the two skeletal remains. However, the deeper he delves into the case, the more he understands the futility felt by Oldřich of Rosenberg when he tried to catch foreign spies at Girl's Stone in the fifteenth century. At the same time, he discovers that not everyone wants the truth to come to light. Even if it means silencing Záviš...
