Description
This Czech-language fantasy novel full of action and humour follows Durham, a city guard whose career has gone nowhere despite once solving a sheep murder. When he is ordered to join the Kobkanýři, professional dwarven tomb and dungeon clearers, he discovers that he was assigned by mistake. Unable to escape the mission, the increasingly frantic guard joins an expedition to recover a magical mace hidden in the crypt of the necromancer Alaham. For the dwarves, it is routine: they plan to storm the crypt with axes, shields, crossbows, explosives, siege engines and trained chickens, kill the undead, disarm the traps and carry away anything that can be sold. But Durham seems to have brought fate into the game, and the dwarven commando faces a far more demanding, potentially revolutionary adventure than usual. Meanwhile, the undead Alaham has plans of his own.
