Description
NORTHERN CRIME FROM THE TRUE NORTH… Cal Meany is a con artist, poacher, abusive father, and unfaithful husband. His murder, therefore, surprisingly sparks such a wave of excitement that private investigator Kate Shugak, who pulls Cal's corpse from Alaganik Bay, wonders whether to arrest the killer or commend him. However, it is surprising that the body shows signs of beating, fatal stabbing, strangulation, and drowning. The main suspects become Meany's not-so-grieving wife and his children. Most of the neighbors would also have a motive for murder. However, after the circumstances escalate dramatically, Kate begins to consider that this unusual case might not be so easily solved... The situation is further complicated by Kate's aunts, who get involved in their own dubious dealings at the fishing camp on Amartuq Creek, and Kate must prove that at least they did not commit any murder.
