A SPACECRAFT TRAPPED IN ICE HOLDS BOTH A THREAT AND A HOPE FOR ALL OF HUMANITY When an automatic exploration probe on the distant planet Marzanna-3 discovers the nearly intact exploration ship Fridtjof Nansen, humanity is offered a chance it has been waiting for many years. The ice-locked vessel, which was reportedly abducted by mysterious Corsairs three years ago, likely conceals valuable enemy technologies and possibly even the bodies of the Corsairs themselves, who are waging an undeclared war against humanity. The nearest ship capable of investigating the rare find is the UTSS Salamis. It is currently docked at the border station UTSS Shanghai, undergoing general maintenance after a battle with the Corsairs. Although repairs are far from complete, the Salamis, with a crew provisionally supplemented by Chinese marines and a research team from intelligence, sets out far beyond the boundaries of colonized space to secure the wreck of the Corsair ship. However, the question remains: how did the Fridtjof Nansen end up on Marzanna-3? What forced it to land, and what other threats lie hidden in the icy grip of the frigid planet?
