Description
NORTHERN CRIME FROM THE TRUE NORTH... Kate Shugak, after leaving the district attorney's office in Anchorage, returns to her homeland in the remote north of Alaska, unaware that she will soon have the opportunity to prove her detective skills. When one of the rangers goes missing, the locals don't make much of it. He is presumably lying somewhere under layers of snow, and his body will only be revealed with the spring thaw. But then Kate's former colleague, who went to search for the ranger, disappears without a trace, and Kate cannot let that go... The clues lead to the Aleut community where Kate grew up, and she knows well that the people here often see little difference between lies and loyalty, as well as between just retribution and cold-blooded murder.
