Description
Is reading in decline in our country, or not? This publication presents the results of the latest representative statistical survey of the Czech adult population. It summarizes basic data and findings from previous research (2007, 2010, 2013) and brings new, current insights. It focuses much more on reading in the digital environment, our relationship with e-books and audiobooks. However, the main theme is reading socialization: what plays the biggest role in us becoming readers, what place does family occupy in this process, what is our relationship with school (and required reading), and how important is the image of parents that we carry into adulthood. There are also perspectives from beyond the borders of the Czech Republic, as well as framing reflections on what is happening today with our reading culture: Is it declining, or not? Where is it heading? Is its overall nature changing?
