In the story "The Crack," the author plays with the theme of World War II, which he also addresses in the Q Department series. You might uncover the twist much earlier than the main character, but the gradual, brilliantly thought-out unraveling of the story will entertain you and perhaps even frighten you a little. The story will also definitely prompt you to reflect. It shows more than might initially meet the eye.
