Description
Claudia Hampton, a famous writer and historian, is on the brink of death. Yet she has not said her last word. Claudia is a strong and independent woman. She spent her childhood in pre-war Britain, worked as a war correspondent in Cairo, and carved out a place for herself in a purely male discipline — history. Years went by, and her life gradually intertwined with the fates of others. She found and lost true love, gave birth to a daughter she could not love, had a lover who was untrustworthy, and a brother she adored. Now she lies in a hospital bed, mentally drafting 'the history of the world and along with it, her own.' She is a merciless critic of everything and everyone, but as a professional historian, she also lets others involved speak, who thus tell the story of her life alongside her.
