Život v zahradě – Lively Penelope (2019)

Among the flowerbeds, one can find not only weeds and paths but also inspiration, happiness, and occasionally a writer. Penelope Lively is not only an award-winning author but also an avid gardener. In her book Life in the Garden, both of her passions intertwine: she reminisces about a life spent in gardens, whether during her childhood in Cairo, at her grandmother's garden, or in her own gardens in Oxfordshire and London. At the same time, she recalls all the flowerbeds she encountered while wandering through world literature. Life in the Garden is a charming book from which you can almost smell the scent of old paper and wet soil. The pages alternate between stories of writers and artists who, like Penelope Lively, could not imagine life without flowerbeds, flowers, and lush bushes, along with her own memories, reflections, and insights on literature, gardening, and other joys of life.
