Description
The Dictionary of Literary Structuralism represents the very first thematically defined terminological handbook that addresses structuralism in all its essential dimensions and forms as it has developed within literary studies throughout the twentieth century. The book contains more than three hundred entries in which the authors strive to explain fundamental theoretical and methodological concepts, paradigms, key terms, directions, and schools of structuralist literary theory and criticism in an accessible manner, both in terms of their historical development and their current form. In addition to entries from the field of literary studies, the dictionary also includes terms from a number of related disciplines (e.g., linguistics, aesthetics, semiotics, anthropology, etc.). Individual entries take the form of cohesive studies and are interconnected through references. Although the authors of the dictionary draw extensively from the structuralist legacy of the Prague School, their interpretations are not limited to this research tradition. The dictionary is intended for anyone interested in literary studies, aesthetics, linguistics, philosophy, as well as the history of science and thought about literature. The dictionary is the work of a team of leading Czech experts and researchers from the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic...
