Description
The Czech Library brings representative works of Czech literature from its beginnings to the present, regardless of the authors' civic, ideological, and literary orientation. It is overseen by a scientific council composed of leading literary historians and editors. The carefully prepared editions are accompanied by expert commentaries. The series began publishing in 1997 under Czech Writer, transitioned to Lidové noviny Publishing in 1998, and since 2009 has been published by Host (www.kniznice.cz). A list of titles published so far can be found at the end of the book. In 2018, in addition to the 'Selection of Minor Czech Writings / Czech Leaves of Jan Hus,' the following titles were published: Egon Hostovský's 'House Without a Master / Midnight Patient,' Karel Havlíček Borovský's 'Poems and Prose,' Václav Kliment Klicpera's 'Plays,' and a reissue of Josef Kainar's 'Poems.' For 2019, we are preparing: Jáchym Topol's 'Sister,' 'Sunday Sermon — God Can Open My Mouth,' Jiří Voskovec and Jan Werich's 'Four Plays,' and Karolina Světlá's 'Village Novel.'
