Description
The monograph presents one of the defining personalities of Czech literature since the 1960s, the poet, literary critic, editor, translator, and educator Antonín Brousek. The hypersensitive yet intellectually grounded poet projected lived experience into his verses, and the dual transformation of his poetics offers a key to his work as a whole. The first shift occurred after the author's emigration, when his lyrical creation represented a refuge for him, a safe space for reminiscing and constructing a sense of home. The second shift took place when the poet attempted to return to Czechoslovakia after 1989.
