The main protagonist of the story is Janina Duszejko, a civil engineer who has to earn a living as an English and geography teacher at a school in the Kladská basin, on the Czech-Polish border. In winter, she also works as a caretaker of summer apartments. Her passion is astrology, and above all, she loves animals. She tries to help and protect them in every way possible, fighting against those who harm them. She warns against reckless destruction of nature, seeing human fates written in the stars. She belongs to a circle of enthusiastic readers of the English poet William Blake (the title of the book is a quote from his poem). One day, Janina's neighbor is found dead. Another murder follows, and then another... Poachers and prominent members of society mysteriously die. Only the animals are silent witnesses. The heroine knows something about these murders, but the police ignore her - yet Janina Duszejko can read the stars... Edition with a film cover. The film Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead is based on the moral thriller by writer Olga Tokarczuk from the contemporary Czech-Polish border, which was published in Czech translation by Petr Vidlák at Host under the title Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead. The film premiered on April 20, 2017.
