Description
In the former judicial district of Kojetín (now part of the southern area of the Olomouc Region), resistance organizations affiliated with the illegal Communist Party of Czechoslovakia or the Defense of the Nation operated in the early years of the German occupation. Later, an intelligence-oriented organization called Viktor was active here, and in 1945, partisan actions took place in the district, primarily involving sabotage operations on the railway. The publication also reveals numerous individual actions of anti-Nazi resistance, the hiding of various refugees or a downed American pilot, and a shootout between resistance fighters and members of the Gestapo in Věrovany in August 1943. The natives of the district who carried out resistance activities in other parts of Moravia and Bohemia are also not overlooked. The author of the book has been interested in the anti-Nazi resistance in the Kojetín area for 15 years.
