Description
World Reading for Schoolchildren is a series of richly illustrated, sensitively retold, and abridged works of world literature. The main character of the book, ship's doctor and later captain Lemuel Gulliver, recounts the incredible adventures he experienced among the tiny inhabitants of Lilliput, the Brobdingnagian giants, the scholars on the flying island of Laputa, and finally among the wise horses of the Houyhnhnms. In the novel Gulliver's Travels, Jonathan Swift sharply criticizes human society, although 'civilized', it is full of injustices, wars, and greed. He does this by describing life in lands where everything is turned upside down.
