King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table - required reading for every schoolchild. The character of Odysseus comes from Greek mythology. This Greek hero was widely known and remains so to this day. The adventures of Odysseus were passed down orally from generation to generation from their inception, presumably in the 13th or 12th century BC, until the 8th or 7th century BC, when Homer captured them in written form. This version has survived to this day.
