This Czech-language biography presents a comprehensive and detailed account of the life of priest Jan Bula, one of the innocent victims of the Babice case. In July 1951, gunshots rang out at a school in Babice in the Třebíč region, killing three officials of the Local National Committee. Although the perpetrators were arrested the very next day, the communist regime used the event as a pretext to eliminate other people it considered undesirable. One of the largest repressive campaigns in the history of Czechoslovakia began, aiming to accelerate the collectivization of agriculture and suppress the influence of the Catholic Church. Intimidation, propagandistic brainwashing and a struggle against the nation itself followed.
