Description
Do you believe that politics is dirty and that a good Christian should have nothing to do with it, or that a politician cannot become a saint? This book about Robert Schuman offers a different perspective. Schuman regarded politics as a useful tool for improving the world around us. He studied law, economics, theology and statistics and worked as a lawyer and politician. He helped establish the European Coal and Steel Community, the Council of Europe and NATO. His declaration of 9 May 1950 laid the foundations for post-war European integration, based on reconciliation and trust between nations, cooperation, shared interests and a measured limitation of sovereignty. The book also presents the Christian sources of Schuman’s thought and actions, making his example relevant and practical today. The contents are in Czech.
