The book presents the colorful life story of an Austrian farmer who refused the Nazi occupation of his country and subsequently service in the Nazi army. Read this intimate story about the strength needed for resistance and the courage one needs to maintain honor in the face of a world that does not understand his reasons. Franz Jägerstätter was beatified in 2007, while his wife and three daughters were still alive. The Czech edition of the book also includes a selection of essential Jägerstätter texts, letters, and notes. Inspired by his life, director Terence Malick made the film A Hidden Life in 2019, which won the Ecumenical Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
