After earning her doctorate in biology, Catherine Raven built a small cabin in a remote corner of Montana. At that time, she lived in isolation, both physically and emotionally. She considered the cabin a refuge where she could relax – she never felt quite comfortable around people. One day, she noticed that a rather scruffy fox came to her property every afternoon. How does one strike up a conversation with a fox? She brought out a folding chair, sat as close to him as possible, and began reading The Little Prince to him. As a scientist, she was well aware that animals cannot be attributed human traits. However, as the fox's personality and character gradually revealed themselves, they became friends despite her convictions.
