Description
This beautifully illustrated Czech-language book is a gentle educational aid that introduces children to everyday situations and helps them understand the world around them. They spend a day with Ema, a girl of the same age, and learn in an approachable way how to behave in different circumstances. Ema dislikes Monday mornings because she has to get up early and go to nursery school, where she is worried about meeting her new teacher. She still has to wash, comb her hair and eat breakfast, and wonders whether the new boy Kuba will cry again. During a walk, she learns what to do when the red pedestrian signal is lit. After lunch, her mother has still not arrived, and Ema is sad because she thinks her mother has forgotten her. The book also supports children’s vocabulary, thinking, speech, imagination and spatial awareness, while helping them recognise and manage different situations. It was inspired by advice from nursery-school teachers and encourages parents to read aloud with their children every day.
