This updated and carefully designed Czech-language workbook develops pupils’ ability to express themselves and practise reading. Through playful activities, it teaches children to read fluently, understand texts, use their imagination and process written information. It follows on from the new edition of the Playful Primer and develops the skills acquired there. Prepared by experienced primary-school teachers, it contains picture reading, poems and selected excerpts from children’s literature, accompanied by questions and playful tasks for easy comprehension. Colour illustrations and a modern design encourage pupils’ motivation and creativity. In accordance with the Czech Framework Educational Programme, the stories and supplementary exercises gradually develop both ordinary and unusual situations from everyday life. Familiar characters and settings appear in new situations, helping pupils understand events and process information embedded in texts. Tom and Ema accompany children throughout the workbook in simple stories with which they can easily identify. The workbook builds a relationship with written texts and literature, focuses on comprehension and information processing, and offers varied exercises, illustrations, colouring pages and creative tasks for work with texts and pictures. It is designed to complement the Playful Alphabet and Playful Primer, while writing practice can be supplemented with the new-edition handwriting workbooks.
