Vyjmenovaná čtení o vlasti – Mleziva Jan-Michal (2022)

The interest of this book lies in its approach to multiple thematic areas. On one hand, it presents geographical information to young readers in the form of a travel guide, including a number of facts from Czech history and the lives of people in earlier times. On the other hand, the book focuses on the origins of local names, which often intrigue children, allowing them to delve a little into the principles of naming our towns and villages. In addition to this, as the title "Named Readings about the Homeland" suggests, this book serves as an unconventional tool for the involuntary acquisition of the graphic form of selected geographical names, which are categorized in language guides as listed words. These geographical names are colorfully highlighted in the texts, so that children "trip" over them several times while reading, helping them better memorize their spelling. Each text in the book is accompanied by a full-page artistic illustration. "Named Readings about the Homeland" forms a unique trio of books along with "Named Readings about Nature" and "Named Readings about Various Topics," which address the issue of listed words in an original way.
