Description
After the wild wartime experiences, the soldiers of the Czechoslovak legions finally began to return home in 1919, aboard ocean liners traveling around the world. The book describes the everyday life of these voyages, depicting the psychological state of the soldiers based on diaries and memoirs, visits to exotic ports, unusual pastimes including shark hunting, and also mentions one interesting transport on the ship Mount Vernon, which has gone down in history as the Bolshevik transport and somewhat distorted the image of the legionnaires' return to young Czechoslovakia.
