Lužičtí srbové na přelomu 20./21.století – Šatava Leoš (2020)

Lusatia and the Slavic component of its population, the Lusatian Sorbs, occupy a distinctive place within the Czech social and cultural consciousness. However, materials on this topic mostly remain in a narrowly informative realm or are focused on a single theme. The aim of the presented collection of texts is, on the contrary, to show the Lusatian Sorbian issue from various perspectives, thus from a broader and more complex, holistic perspective. It seeks to present the Lusatian Sorbs in the context of diverse, yet thematically interconnected dimensions. The collection reprints studies and articles by the author published between 1983 and 2019, with more than half created after 2005. The individual works not only inform about Lusatia and the Slavic component of its population but primarily address the issues of ethnicity and identity of the Lusatian Sorbs and the state of the Lusatian language—especially regarding the current situation—through various prisms. The selection takes a different path than standard monographs. It is not conceived as a collection of strictly scientific articles; alongside purely academic studies, it also includes factual, descriptive, and informative texts, as well as popular articles or literary analyses.
