Description
A Czech patriot and a remarkable figure of the Austrian monarchy in several respects – as a young cadet, he graduated from the prestigious Theresian Military Academy and ultimately concluded his military career with the rank of lieutenant general, spoke ten languages, painted several thousand watercolors and dozens of oils, contributed to a wide range of newspapers and periodicals, and in the later phase of his life became famous as a promoter of a healthy lifestyle, abstinence, and vegetarianism, often seen in Prague and its surroundings in a walking suit and – in sandals! The author's intention is therefore to bring closer this now practically unknown and forgotten personality, who belonged to the color of significant Czech patriotic and intellectual society at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.
